How To Drain Your Hot Water System

Removing the water from your Smarttek Hot Water Unit is nice and easy!

There are two recommended ways you can easily drain water from your Smarttek Hot Water Unit.

Option 1:

Turn on your pump, open your shower rose, remove the hose from water source (e.g take your hose out of the bucket of water) and let the pump push air through your hot water system.

** All Smarttek 12v pumps are an anti-dry run through pump, so you will not cause any damage to your pump by doing this.

Note: Turn off the power supply to your pump once water is completely drained.

Option 2:

With your Hot Water System in an upright position, Simply remove the connections that are attached onto the water inlet and water outlet of your Smarttek Hot Water Unit and let the water from inside of your unit flow freely out. This will drain any remaining water from the inside of your system. 

Why is it important to drain the Water from the inside of your Smarttek Hot Water?

It is important to remove and drain any water remaining inside of your Smarttek Hot Water Unit after use - especially if you are using your unit in a colder climate where the outside air temperature will reach 10°C or colder. 

Leaving water inside your Smarttek Hot Water Unit with these colder temperatures increases the risk of frost damage.
